Product Details

2014 Trek Madone 2.3 C

The legendary Madone is now available in aluminum! Built with their super-aerodynamic KVF tubes, Trek’s Madone 2.3 C smooths the air from the tip to tail to effortlessly turn pedal power into speed and save energy. And up front, Trek's asymmetrical, tapered E2 front end makes the steering stable and predictable so you can slice through corners with pinpoint precision. Meanwhile, Trek's H2 geometry is dialed in for all-day comfort with a slightly higher handlebar position. You'll also love the light and nimble Bontrager Race wheels, the excellent Shimano compact drivetrain with super-easy gearing for conquering the climbs, the Bontrager carbon seatpost that damps vibrations and the quality brakes for speed control. All the Madone's speed comes with versatility, too because you also get discreet rack and fender mounts that let you load up for commuting, wet weather and off-season training rides.

I upgraded from the Trek Dual Sport (DS) 8.4 and boy, did I notice a big difference. Great entry-level road bike that is light, good looking and fast. If I was younger, this bike could be used for racing. I'm not into biking enough to know of parts that I need to upgrade or change. I actually really like the way the bike came right off the showroom floor. I like the known Trek quality and we have a great dealer in town. Very happy with my purchase

I've only been on 2 rides so far, so take my review with that information. I exchanged up, from a previous purchase, to this bike. The previous bike had a great frame, had all Sora components and off-brand (heavy) rims/wheels. These are my thoughts so far. 1. The rim set is highly superior. I was looking at upgrading the rims on my previous bike and to get a comparable set, I was looking to spend more than $600. The wheels are significantly lighter, making the overall bike lighter. It remains to be seen if the fewer number of spokes will hold up under my heavier weight. 2. The brake levers and brakes are highly superior. When I first pulled them (based on habit from my previous bike) I nearly sent myself over the handlebars. Extremely responsive in comparison. 3. The carbon seat post made a noticeable difference in the comfort. 4. The derailleurs changed the gears more easily and more smoothly. I do miss having the little indicators on the hoods showing me which gear I was in, though. I'm not too keen on having to look down at my back wheel to figure it out, to therefore avoid cross-chaining. 5. The compact drive train is excellent. My previous bike had a triple chain-ring with 9 gears in back, and I do not miss the third chain ring at all, on the hills or on the flats. In addition to the above improved experience compared to my previous bike, I was able to pedal standing up more easily on this bike (I'm fairly new to biking, and have struggled with skill). I'm not sure if that is related to this bike or just my ever-increasing confidence. Maneuverability skills that I practice regularly (such as weaving through points on the road and practicing fast right turns for crash avoidance, etc) also seem easier with this bike. I look forward to many years with this bike. The blue is also really pretty.

After only a month on my 2013 Specialized Sirrus Sport hybrid bike, I wanted something faster, something lighter, and something I could use for both commuting and exercise. In this wonderful work of modern art, I found all of these! I'm extremely pleased with this purchase!
