      Comments:

I'm a confident rider but very unfit I love riding in the bush and finding different tracks to ride on. I brought a 2010 GT Avalanche 3.0 a few months ago and even though it was 3 years old it might as well have been brand new. I could not get comftorble on it at all and I just can put my finger on it but as soon as I sat on the 4500 it felt so nice. handle bars are the prefect width and the balance is awesome my first ride and I stood up on the pedals took my hands off the handle bars spread my arms out and I felt so free. I've never had a pike so well balanced that I would feel confident enough to do that with and this bike just asked me to do it I really do love the bike thank you Trek. if your going for a hard tail and thinking of going for a 3 or 4 series I recommend treating yourself to the 4500 Disk you wont regret it

I bought this bike because i like to go out and hit the roads. Probably a low-cost bike will last like 2 months with my riding type, but this bike looks and feels like its going to last much much longer. Im very happy. Im not into competition neither dirt-jumping or hard riding, im a casual rider so im very pleased.

        Comments:

Alot of people are saying this bike is heavy, but you have to remember it isn't a road bike and it isn't carbon. For what the bike is, the weight of the bike I would consider light. Apart from the seat being a bit hard and the tyres being a bit poor in slippery or muddy conditions (both of which can be changed easily) the only problem I have ever had with this bike is that the chain once jammed itself up and into the front derailleur and the derailleur twisted and bent (This may have been caused by my failure to lubricate parts properley after the previous very muddy ride)Over all the 4500 disk is a great bike, the front lock out makes for great on road riding, but I also ride it in pretty harsh off road condidions and have even taking it down technical terrain (even though this bike is not rated to do that) and it handles very well. I also love the hydrolic disk breaks, they are very powerful brakes capable of slowing you down very quickly. So if your looking for a bike in this price range I would definitely recomend the Trek 4500 disk.

This is a great bike but little havy. Front derailleur is cheap for that price - my suggestion to change it to Alivio. 3x9 gives a easy ride uphill. I recommend to buy it! Great value!

            Comments:

My bike is the Red/Black/White 2011 model.I use my bike 2 to 3 times a week to commute 6.5 miles each way to school. I also use it every weekend for trail riding. For me the seat is a bit hard but the bikes overall fit is perfect. I went to a small block tire(XR1) for better on road performance. I also bought the Race Light Flat 31.8 bars and a Race Lite 7 degree stem for a better feel. My only gripe is with the pedals. I just don't like them. They are slick when wet and have always made a squeak sound. I'll replace them next. Several friends have ridden my bike, 3 bought the same bike! I think this bike is a little heavy compared to a few I've rode in the past. It doesn't cause me any trouble but requires a little more work on my part. If you are more hardcore on the trails, step up to the 4900 for a better fork or the 6000 for better components and a little less weight.

I love this bike. My 4500 is about 2 years old and doesn't have disc brakes but i plan on upgrading it soon. I stopped riding this bad boy for a while because i had no good places to ride. Today, my friend, who rides a 4300, and i went trial riding at a new spot and i absolutley loved it. The bike handled well with tight trail riding and steep up/down hill root covered trail. I'm extremely glad i bought this bike, even though it took me a year to use it to its full potiental.

              Comments:

This is my second Trek, stuck with them as my last one was so good (over 10 years ago!). They say you should buy the best bike your budget will allow and the 4500 was the best I could afford - but once you're hooked on mtb, you always want the next model up! I've had it for about a month and done some hard fire trails as well as daily fitness rides and it's handled everything I've thrown at it with ease. Replaced the pedals with some egg beaters and haven't looked back. Overall it's been a pretty awesome bike, only minor complaint is the lockout on the fork has been a bit temperamental due to what I consider poor manufacturing tolerances in the lockout mechanism. It's working now after a bit of fiddling, but I think I'll upgrade the fork as soon as I have the cash to do so. Despite other reviews saying the seat is uncomfortable, it's been fine for me - just depends on your fit I guess.

              Comments:

I bought this bike in Febuary and have been loving it ever since. The front shock lockout feature is great when transitioning from a rough trail to a smoother stretch. I'd assume I would break something on myself before I broke something on this bike. It was very well made and has handled all the trails great.
