I love the 29er. I have broad shoulders and long arms. The longer bars really benefit my riding style. #guinevere

        Comments:

I purchased this bike after a trip to the store with another bike in mind. The sales staff listened to my current riding thoughts and suggested the X-Caliber 6. I have to admit that the Hyd Disc Breaks had the cool factor that put it over the top but the other features were great. I am getting back into riding after many years of not riding. I was looking for something that meet my current riding area (bike paths and roadway) and my riding areas for when I go home (off road trails, bike paths and roadways). In the past week I have managed to ride over 70 miles (not all at once) and I am getting over the initial soreness that comes from the saddle. I did purchase some padded bike shorts and they helped. The performance is great and the ride suits me great. This is not a high end road bike (which I get passed by a lot) but for the money I got one heck of a bike.

Very unhappy the dealer gave me absolutely no instruction. Here's you bike...see you! The hydro brakes squeal like a dying pig and I was not instructed on how to properly break them in. Otherwise, I like the bike!

My first 29er and I'm loving it! handles so well I'm impressing myself, front suspension is flawless and the bike glides over obstacles. Extremely pleased so far, bonus is that my local Trek dealer is a great guy with superb staff.

        Comments:

This is a very capable bike but not without it's faults. The seat was horrible the first day, better the second, and seemed better on the third. Pedals aren't getting better and won't, but will soon be replaced. The wheels are big and roll over stuff with ease, in fact I hit a hole that I was sure would throw me over the bars, but the bike just went over it like nothing. Brakes are strong and lever feel is good. Fork seems OK for my purposes and I've seen it compress to about 80% so far. I'm sure a more professional rider would find more flaws, but my last bike was a decade ago, no suspension, 20 or 24" wheels, SS frame, and from K-mart, so either way this is a huge leap in technology. I'm very happy with my purchase.

        Comments:

I recently came back from Lake Tahoe and did some trail riding and I was hooked. I came back and hear of Trek and the name brand. I went to the store, the staff was extremely helpful in assisting me. I didn't want to purchase a bike then 3 months later upgrade therefore I picked this bike. The only comment I have in the con section is the seat it comes with. Although flashy and cool looking doesn't provide enough cushion. Love the bike, the options, and functions, especially the brakes.

can't get comfortable on this bike

            Comments:

No matter how I adjust the handlebars or the seat, I just can't get comfortable on this bike. Either my knees are hurting, my back is hurting, my arms are strained... 2 retailers insist I didn't buy the wrong size frame. I just don't think they did real measurements on a short person. Also they should show a picture of the 14.5" frame on the website because it looks like a women's bike, not something I want to ride. people should know that before they spend $700. This thing goes uphill worse than my 820 and the tires start spinning in the sand more quickly than the 820 too. I thought maybe the 820 is just heavier so I took this one out with a backpack on, no difference. Not impressed.

            Comments:

Outstanding bike for the price, impressed with the geometry and overall build and handling. Compared to the X-caliber 7 the differences weren't enough to warrant the price. Shifts smoothly and handles Bidwell with ease.
