        Comments:

I live in Raleigh NC. Two weeks ago today I drove to Charlotte NC and bought this bike for my 10 year old niece. She doesn't enjoy traditional sports but needs a physical activity. She's enjoyed the bike but is becoming very discouraged by the continued trouble with the rear brakes sticking. The day after we bought the bike they started sticking. You have to get off the bike to pull the brakes apart or pump the rear hand brake a few times to get them unstuck. We took the bike back to the bike shop where we bought it the next day. They made some adjustments and we took it back home. The next day they were sticking again. We took the bike back the next day and they replaced the brake. Two days ago she came to visit me in Raleigh and brought her bike. We went on a short 3.2 mile ride that afternoon and the rear brake got stuck 3 times. Yesterday we rode 5 miles and it stuck 4 times. I called the bike shop in Charlotte yesterday to let them know we were having the same problem. They said to bring it in when she got back to Charlotte but didn't think there was more they could do. They also said they didn't think Trek would do anything else since they already replaced the brake once. Trek and the bike shop should stand behind the customer. I feel we should be given a new bike. I've owned bikes for 25 years and never had a bike do this. This is the first Trek I've ever bought and looks like it will be my last.

I use my trek bike to commute and for recreational, it performs excellent. Many roads are in poor condition despite being a bike route the trek 820 handles the ruff tarmac with ease.
