      Comments:

I bought this bike to commute to work (8 miles each way) after I moved to the Bay Area in California. I have only ridden mountain bikes offroad and I wanted something affordable that was comfortable, lightweight and fast on the road. This is a great bike for that combination of things. I added lights, mirror, computer and kickstand. I like that I can fenders to the pre-mounts later if I wish. The bike is very fast on the street. I can easily hit 20mph and I hit 29mph on flat ground so far. I really like the color scheme as well. The black wheels look great with the dark grey frame. I bought the 22.5" frame so that I could have the most upright seating position. The seat and grips are very comfortable.

      Comments:

Overall I love this bike. I ride a few days a week between 8 and 12 miles at a time mainly for exercise and lose a few pounds. It's a little rough on bumps not having a front suspension. Sometimes the chain rubs a bit on the front derailer and I have to manually adjust it depending on what gear I'm in. I installed better grips and an adjustable stem to bring up the handlebars a little because my neck was hurting. Next I plan on upgrading to alloy pedals, a suspension seat post and eventually better components and tires.

50 miles on the bike so far, only problem was seat comfort, handle bars had to be re-tightened after about 20 miles of biking and chain popped off once during an uphill shift. OOtherwise so far so good.

        Comments:

I recently turned a page in my life and got rid of my Windsor racing bike. I had it for 28 years and put 28,000 miles on it. (I take care of and hold onto things a LONG time if I like it). I love this 7.1 FX. I am on a tight budget but I wanted a reliable bike. This bike is quick, responsive, light and a pleasure to ride. I still use my clips and most of my riding is on the road. I have yet to test its top speed since I just put my cyclometer on this evening, however, I suspect I will not be disappointed to gain speeds on the flat areas averaging 17-19 mph. Although this is a drastic change from my racer, for this 63 year old man, I will enjoy my leisure rides and then now and then, take on some young strap once in a while to show the old man still has it. The 7.1 FX will help me keep moving and grooving.

        Comments:

This is a great bike for the person who has road mountain bikes for just about all of your life to transition into something for on pavement use. It is very smooth riding over pavement and it is quick compared to a mountain bike bit that is obvious. It is very comfortable with the only issues being the un comfortable grips and seat but both you can change anyway for under a hundred bucks. All of the components though lower quality work very well with each other and I do not wish for anything better on this bike. Only complaint is the cheap peddles that come with the bike. I do understand why they do this though. The frame is very solid and well constructed for this price. The only negative with the frame is that the fork is steel, I wish that it was aluminum like the rest if the frame is. I do not understand why Trek does this other than to force you to the more expensive bikes. Overall i an very satisfied with this bike and the price that i paid for it. I wish that Trek had a model with hydraulic disc brakes in the FX line that is something that i think would be a great addition to this bike.

I've only had the bike 2 wks, but have put approx 250 miles on it, and for my needs/wants, I love it. I am an upper body weakling, so my being able to carry it up & down my patio stairs in & out of my condo makes me very happy, :o)

Was time (actually past time) to get off the couch and begin exercising. The FX is an ideal neighborhood cruiser. Very easy to use and become comfortable with. Here in near NE San Antonio one experiences a hill or two and the FX assists in making short order of the hill climb challenge. Not necessarily a long distance bike - not its purpose - but for exercise, a trip to the store, even commuting the FX is ideal. A pretty good bike - and great service from Bike World.

It's my mode of transportation. So far and that would be a month it's has preformed very well seems to be a very well built bike. Average day of riding is15 to 20 miles mostly hard surface some hard dirt and does really well. The only thing I think I would change is the seat maybe a higher end road bike seat?? Other then that I really like it.
