      Comments:

Just purchased a used, but great condition 1.5. It's my first road bike, after riding a Cannondale hybrid for 20 years. The Trek is so much lighter and faster. Thought the narrow seat might be an issue, but it has felt good on 40-50-mile rides. Of course, the factory pedals are meant to be replaced. I now have good clipless pedals, so no issue there. Only issue I have is with Trek's rather optimistic claim of the 1.5 being geared for the steepest hills. That's true only if one is in great shape. My riding is usually 40-100 miles per week, with decent climbs. I replaced the 11-26 cassette with an 11-32. It's definitely better for climbing than before, but probably not quite as easy on really steep hills as my hybrid. That said, the Trek is so much faster overall, and somewhat faster on moderate climbs. After some 300 miles, I can say, "Thank you Trek, for finally getting my 63-year-old body on a road bike!"

        Comments:

I originally picked up the 2014 1.2 but didn't like the shifting, VCC honored their exchange policy and I upgraded to the 2014 1.5. The shifting on the 1.2 was wholly inadequate and clunky, the 1.5 was much more responsive and smooth. Also the cassette gearing was much better as well as way more responsive. However the rear derailleur needs adjustment often. Currently about 1000 miles on the bike since it was purchased. The stock saddle seems too cushy and could cause sores fast, that was replaced after a few rides because of that, YMMV. The paint on the bike is sharp looking, the only hold-back there is it picks up dirt easily and it swirls if you don't use the right/new cloth to clean with. The tires are grippy for being stock, and wheels seem to handle some abuse. It has been a great bike for daily commuting as well as group rides and centuries. It isn't quite a race bike, but it can and does hold it's own if the rider is strong enough in breakaways and the like. Probably best suited for an avid cyclist who wants a great bike without breaking the bank. If you want to focus on racing, go with a 2.0 or higher series; if you want a bike you can abuse and really enjoy but want the good components, go with the 1.5.

          Comments:

I bought this bike at the end of summer after I worked all summer to afford it. I got it about 3 weeks before I went back to school but I rode well over 700 miles and without any problems accept for the stock pedals but I replaced them with some spd-sl pedals and it rode like a dream. Overall great bike for a beginner road bike. BTW I'm only 15.

            Comments:

I bought this last week of July and after 2 commute rides rode a 32 mile charity ride in Cummings Ga. I since have put over 381 miles on it with no problems. The only draw back is I wish the brake/gear handles were a tad bit longer and could be angled back some, otherwise this bike is hands down over my old hybrid (over 7,000 miles) and I don't miss the extra gears, it shifts very smoothly and climbs hills like a dream, during the charity ride there was one hill I rode up and passed about 8 young people pushing their bikes up it (I am 60 years old). I got this bike on sale it was approximately $400 off the regular price and would have been worth every penny of the regular price

              Comments:

I ride mostly to stay in shape, anywhere from 3-5 times a week 20-40 miles per outing. This bike is awesome. Everything was silky smooth and I felt very comfortable on the bike even after riding a hybrid for 2 years. I really enjoyed climbing on this bike. The compact crank is awesome, I love the tighter gear ratios. Next I need to invest in some clipless pedals and shoes but the stock pedals work just fine for now. This is my first road bike and knowing Trek's reputation I will probably be riding this gem for the next 20 years!
