2013 Trek Superfly AL (Gary Fisher Collection)

Trek's Superfly AL offers pro-level handling and speed that every rider can exploit. Even if you never race it, you'll love the light, efficient Trek Platinum Series aluminum frame with Gary Fisher's G2 geometry for amazing handling. The 100mm RockShox Reba up front and the short wheelbase give you power on the climbs, control on the descents and a serious advantage in the twisties with super-quick handling and responsive steering. Adding to that are the 29-inch Bontrager tubeless-ready wheels and tires which roll over anything. And, in the components department, you get a precision 3x10 Shimano drivetrain with an XT rear derailleur, powerful disc brakes and Bontrager controls so you're ready for anything from throwing down on local trails to racing on the weekend.

    Comments:

I got my Super Fly AL from the Trek Kearny Mesa Store about 2 weeks ago. I love this bike! It's my first mountain bike to own in a 29er format and I like the bigger wheel. Rolls over small rocks and holes and great on the asphalt. I've had my Gary Fisher X-Caliber for 14 years and figure it's time to look for a new bike. When I saw the clearance price and they had my frame size, I jumped on the deal. The bike is very light for an aluminum frame. I was ready to get the Cannondale SL2 29er but when I saw this for the clearance price, it was a no brainer.

        Comments:

I'm 58 and an aggressive recreational rider. I bought the bike a couple of months ago and have put about 100 miles of single track on it (Mammoth Lakes, local). The gears shift very smoothly and got me going up and down some steeps with little effort. The shocks are highly adjustable and responsive and the three settings for the front and rear worked great (uphill, downhill, undulating). The 29ers really do make the bike faster and easier rolling over bumps and obstacles. I have found no weaknesses in the bike. A wonderful bargain at this sale price!

Way better gear changes compared to soft tail superfly with x7, Love the XT, trim wide handle bars/ get grips and its good to go for a couple years, rubber is great for on and off road but not aggressive off road, 300 miles 3 months no problems 80% off road, nice lock out on shock for on road

            Comments:

After being away from riding or even looking at a bike for almost 15 years, I got the MTB bug. Excelent mid life chrisis to have. This is my first moutain bike so I have no frame of reference. This is a notch or two above 'entry level'and the price was over my budget, but so worth it. Glad I spent the extra money. Im 6'0" and a bit heavy at 190. I dont think a lesser bike could handle what mountain biking goes through. I can grow with this bike. No upgrades are needed for my abilities. But, spend as much money as you can, you will be glad you did. Wish I could give you more details but, like I said I have no frame of reference. But I can say that the limits I face do not have anything to do with the bike. Thats what you want, for the gear to go away and become an extension of you. This bike is doing that for me.

              Comments:

I have been riding this bike for a month now mostly on flowy, roller-coaster tracks. Compared to my previous bike, a 26er HT, the Superfly is as responsive, way faster, easier on rocky/rooty sections. The brakes are spectacular, easy to module and responsive. I tested a few rides and chose the Superfly mostly for the fork and the brakes.
