2013 Trek 7.7 FX

Trek's 7.7 FX delivers unparalleled versatility that rockets along roads, cruises along bike paths and even hits dirt trails. Its carbon frame is light and nimble for effortless riding and great handling. And, since comfort equals more fun, the FX comes a carbon Bontrager fork for an ultra-smooth ride. The frame is graced with easy-pedaling Bontrager wheels, and a precision Shimano 20-speed drivetrain with compact gearing for cruising over the climbs. Quick-stopping Tektro brakes give you stopping power for the ride back down, and you've got a plush Bontrager seat and a great bar, stem and seatpost as well. All your rides just got a lot more fun, and you just got a whole lot fitter.

        Comments:

This bike is great. Very responsive, light, good brakes. However, as I was riding yesterday and the gears were shifting smoothly, the rear derailler suddenly came off. I found a screw on the highway and it appears that the holding screw worked loose and allowed the derailler to come off. It scratched the spokes, the frame, and the derailler wound up bent. This was very dangerous. I'm lucky everything including me is ok.

Love the 7.7 FX, it's super fast off the mark, my average speed increased significantly, it's a breeze to ride. Just wondering why in 2014 a high end bike comes with toe clips?

        Comments:

I cannot say enough good things about this bike. Handling is great and it's 12 pounds lighter than my last Trek. It's easy to carry up/down from the NYC subway and to/from my basement storage. Haven't had any issue with the puncture-resistant tires on NYC streets, either. The only thing I didn't like was the seat (which I swapped out). I also wish there was a woman's version or that the top tube was a bit more angled.

        Comments:

I'm an experienced biker if not expert. Have ridden many different models over the years, this is my first all carbon bike. I commute 6 miles every day (3 miles downhill, 3 miles straight uphill) and do 30-60 mile rides on some weekends. I have really enjoyed the feel and ride of this bike. It's so light and has some nice flex to it. I like components even an amateur like me can maintain and I picked this because I preferred caliper brakes. So far in one year I have had to replace the front derailleur. In the last two days the left pedal started squeaking and then the left pedal fell off 2 minutes into a ride today. In case you are wondering I have put about 1500 miles on the bike in the first year. I'd also like to warn you that the finish is easy to nick up. It was beautiful when I got it, within a year it has a bunch of scratches and dings. Carbon is far easier to mar up than aluminum or steel. What I've learned is that in a grimy environment like Massachusetts (and probably, wherever you ride), this bike is going to need regular maintenance. It's a quality device that doesn't perform well with neglect.

2015 Trek 7.7 FX, wanted to share. Recently I purchased a 2015 Trek 7.7 FX on 8/15/2014 at a cost of just under $2000. Disappointed is an understatement. And with Less than 30 miles on the 7.7FX to date the bike has been back to One Ten Cycle in Mendota Heights, MN. for a total of six service visits(currently still their). It starting with wheels that needed to be trued, and shifting issues. Over all the ride quality is nothing unique even with the so called 400 Series OCLV Carbon frame, the fork is soft, noodle like with a lot of movement under braking. I own a different brand full carbon bike equipped with the Tiagra components just as the 7.7FX is. Only difference it is a drop bar bike and the ride quality far surpasses that of the Trek 7.7FX. This has been a nightmare of a purchase and I still don't have a bike that will function properly, currently it is still sitting at One Ten Cycle being worked on? I would have expedited better service from the retailer on much better response from Trek, I have reached out to Trek, and my only response to date is: a generic email telling me someone will be in touch. In addition to I posted a review a week ago on the Trek review site regarding my Trek 7.7FX only to have it removed one day latter? I am reposted my feedback on this model hoping Trek has the integrity to post all feedback, not just positive.

I have owned the 7.3fx for years and abused the chit out of it. Rode that bike hard for 1000's of miles. Good times. I dreamed about the 7.7fx and the 7.9 for the longest time. Today I dropped the cheddar and got the 2014 7.7fx. Bike is super stylish and fast as one can peddle (;. It's a blast running around Vero Beach, FL where everything in town is less than 4mi away. Hit Starbucks for a jolt and jam the bridge for the beach is such good times. The 7.7fx is so light and shifts like a dream. I love my trek!

I am a runner turned biker just 3 months ago. I just a finished a 400 mile tour of Southern Indiana over 6 days. I have 1600 miles on the bike over these months. The bike performs wonderfully, even in the rain. I had neck surgery 15 years ago and have somewhat limited flexibility in my neck which is why I choose this model. I could not be more satisfied.

                Comments:

I went with the Trek 7.7 FX in summer 2011 when I relocated to Minneapolis and decided to take more advantage of the area's extensive bicycling options. Prior to this purchase I was pushing a relatively heavy hybrid bike on 20-40 mile rides at about 16 mph. I carefully considered road bikes but I preferred a slightly more upright position and desired the comfort features offered by the 7.7 FX. I just didn't like having to reach down to shift or brake today's road bikes. You still need high-end bike shorts and my butt starts to feel it after an hour, but it works well. I do miss not having a few more options for my hands, which start to get numb after 90 minutes. My bike came with dual-mode pedals, which was also attractive as I have not yet converted to clip-ins. With sneakers, I average about 17.5 mph with very quick acceleration. I'm hoping for another mph bump with clip-ins. As it is, I find that I can keep up with road bikes on level ground as long as the headwind is below 15 mph, although I'm probably exerting more energy. I'm faster than most on the uphill, and lose ground on downhills. My only gripe is that it has been hard to customize this bike with accessories. I was hoping to add aerobars but the handlebar shape doesn't accommodate the standard offerings. Even adding a cyclometer and lights are a bit of a challenge.
