2013 Trek 7.7 FX

Trek's 7.7 FX delivers unparalleled versatility that rockets along roads, cruises along bike paths and even hits dirt trails. Its carbon frame is light and nimble for effortless riding and great handling. And, since comfort equals more fun, the FX comes a carbon Bontrager fork for an ultra-smooth ride. The frame is graced with easy-pedaling Bontrager wheels, and a precision Shimano 20-speed drivetrain with compact gearing for cruising over the climbs. Quick-stopping Tektro brakes give you stopping power for the ride back down, and you've got a plush Bontrager seat and a great bar, stem and seatpost as well. All your rides just got a lot more fun, and you just got a whole lot fitter.

I have owned the 7.3fx for years and abused the chit out of it. Rode that bike hard for 1000's of miles. Good times. I dreamed about the 7.7fx and the 7.9 for the longest time. Today I dropped the cheddar and got the 2014 7.7fx. Bike is super stylish and fast as one can peddle (;. It's a blast running around Vero Beach, FL where everything in town is less than 4mi away. Hit Starbucks for a jolt and jam the bridge for the beach is such good times. The 7.7fx is so light and shifts like a dream. I love my trek!

I am a runner turned biker just 3 months ago. I just a finished a 400 mile tour of Southern Indiana over 6 days. I have 1600 miles on the bike over these months. The bike performs wonderfully, even in the rain. I had neck surgery 15 years ago and have somewhat limited flexibility in my neck which is why I choose this model. I could not be more satisfied.

          Comments:

I went with the Trek 7.7 FX in summer 2011 when I relocated to Minneapolis and decided to take more advantage of the area's extensive bicycling options. Prior to this purchase I was pushing a relatively heavy hybrid bike on 20-40 mile rides at about 16 mph. I carefully considered road bikes but I preferred a slightly more upright position and desired the comfort features offered by the 7.7 FX. I just didn't like having to reach down to shift or brake today's road bikes. You still need high-end bike shorts and my butt starts to feel it after an hour, but it works well. I do miss not having a few more options for my hands, which start to get numb after 90 minutes. My bike came with dual-mode pedals, which was also attractive as I have not yet converted to clip-ins. With sneakers, I average about 17.5 mph with very quick acceleration. I'm hoping for another mph bump with clip-ins. As it is, I find that I can keep up with road bikes on level ground as long as the headwind is below 15 mph, although I'm probably exerting more energy. I'm faster than most on the uphill, and lose ground on downhills. My only gripe is that it has been hard to customize this bike with accessories. I was hoping to add aerobars but the handlebar shape doesn't accommodate the standard offerings. Even adding a cyclometer and lights are a bit of a challenge.

              Comments:

I bought this bike for myself. It was expensive, but at the top of the FX line, I think it is worth it. The bike is light, but it feels durable. I love the high-pressure, road tires. The geometry feels comfortable. I like the bars and grips. I carry a rack and fold-down bags on mine, and I enjoy commuting to work. The tires are durable. I run through tons of gravel and other road hazards in my rural area, and I have yet to get a flat.

              Comments:

I'm a bit older and bigger than I once was and have been through Mountain Bikes and Road Bikes and I have to say this TREK FX 7.7 will be the exact perfect bike for me for many years to come. More relaxed geometry yielded almost no soreness in my back, neck and shoulders on my initial ride (41 miles on W&OD Trail). Honestly, there is not a single negative comment on this bike, all components and set up are matched perfectly. The team at my LBS were awesome during the test ride, decision process, spec review, purchase and delivery. For a mid 50's guy this bike is truely 7 out of 5 stars. Enjoy the ride.

Great bike. I ride about 100 miles a week and this bike is comfortable,Fast, and quite durable. It is the closest bike you can buy to aRacer, without the neck and back pain associated with a racer. The upright position is a godsend to an older guy like myself, yet,I can still keep up with my buddies and their racers.Highly recommended!

I love to ride my bike so it is important to be comfortable. That is why I was looking for a bike that could move with decent speed but also had comfortable bars, was lightweight, and was a decent price. I found myself riding my mountain bike more than my road bike on most of my rides because of comfort. When I test rode this bike I loved it. Not only cruises well but love the bars and grips. I am a little older now and this bike fits me perfectly. I am now excited about getting on the road again. I highly recommend this bike if you want to be comfortable but yet rides great
