Plus, it sports a quick-shifting, easy-pedaling 21-speed drivetrain, powerful linear-pull brakes and quality Bontrager components, such as a women's seat with elastomer springs for top-notch comfort.

I use this bike on and off road. The Skye is a well put together, quality bike. I ride every weekend 20+ miles each time and find the bike to be very comfortable. I do wish that it was a little lighter.

Comments:

I have not found a better bike on the market, even the more expensive competitor brands. If you can't decide between a Hybrid or a Mountain, try this bike...it has EVERYTHING. It doesn't matter if you are on the road or on the rockiest of rocks...this bike is smooth and capable. I look forward to riding every day now. My only complaint is why can't such a great bike come in a 14 or 15" inch frame? I had to go to a 13", which has been a little awkward.

Comments:

Bought a 2012 Skye base model for my wife, and I am impressed with it. Shimano powertrain works very very smoothly, the Tektro brakes with Avid levels are responsive and efficient, saddle is wide and comfortable for a woman. All in all a much better bike than what you can find at the big box stores, and can be found for a good price. The only con I could come up with is the weight, but the price reflects that. And maybe the fork that does not have any adjustments and it is quite stiff.

    Comments:

My old, run-of-the-mill bike gave up in the middle of the road. I checked out the Trek website and had another model in mind... but the next day I saw the Skye S and... it was love at first sight. :) I liked the color, the sturdy frame, the wide tires, the suspensions and the smoothness of the ride test. The saddle is rather comfortable - I've only used a gel seat cover pre-emptively and for a few days, months after purchasing the bike, as I had to go for a long ride in a different city. I liked to commute using my old bike every now and then, but after getting the Skye S I started cycling the daily 10 km more often: soon enough I stopped taking the bus altogether. I've also biked a few trails and I'm looking forward to spring when I can re-start taking my bike outside for "extended" trips. Six months and 1900 km later (as of last month), I've "winterized" my bike and it seems to be faring well. Excellent bike!

I bought this for our daughter who's tall at 11. It's a great fit and can grow with her. She's confident on it and enjoys riding even more with a very high quality bike. Anyone know where to get a kickstand that fits?

Great bike! Already have a Diamondback Topanga, but the Trek Ske caught my eye. So I bought the Trek. Love love love the Skye. Trek has the best warranty in the industry. I did my homework before purchasing. No regrets. I ride on the street and its such a pleasure. Riding is fun on the Trek. The shop was knowledgeable and never pushy. The size 19.5 is perfect, I am 5'6" and the shop adjusted the seat for the perfect fit. Comfortable, fun ride!

I've had this bike for a month now and have taken it out on the trails at least six times. So far it's been pretty good out on soft and rough trails. I will be getting a different seat to put on though. The factory seat it came with is WAY too harsh on my tushy. The gears are a little rough when switching them, but it's nothing that really ruins my riding experience.

              Comments:

I've had this bike since early 2012 and I've been quite pleased. I ride mostly mellow dirt and it's more than able to handle the rough and bumpy spots I encounter. The plastic pedals have been grippier/holding up better than expected. The stock Bontrager tires are fine for road and hard dirt, but not for soft dirt/sandy spots/riding on an incline. I switched to knobbier tires and the difference was immediately noticeable. The Cons: The smallest size frame has no cage mounts. You'd need handlebar mounted ones if you want to use bottles. I didn't like the stock seat, it was too small for me. Also, the shifting leaves much to be desired. The front in particular is very inconsistent when going between middle to small. For me it's not a huge huge deal, but you may feel differently. It's pretty annoying. Shifting aside, though, I would call this bike a good buy overall.
