2012 Trek 820

Trek's 820 is a great all-around mountain bike with in-town utility at a sweet price. It rolls on a great-riding steel frame with a relaxed, upright position you'll love. Up front, a bump-busting suspension fork smooths the road and trail. Plus, it sports a quick-shifting, easy-pedaling 21-speed Shimano drivetrain, powerful linear-pull brakes and quality Bontrager components.

    Comments:

I bought this bike to replace a secondhand Trek 800 that I gave to a friend. I mostly used it for trail riding and foul weather riding until I converted it to a longtail cargo bike with an Xtracycle Free Radical conversion. I also replaced the horrible seat, pedals, and handlebars. But that was several months into ownership. I trail rode with others who had newer full suspension and was able to keep up with them. I also replaced the Suntour 2025 front shocks with Nashbar solid forks as I am old school. Overall a great bike.

    Comments:

I bought this bike on 8/24/2013. After 4 days, while riding and making a simple turn, I crashed my bike and the back wheel was really bent and messed up, so is the gear shifter. Then, when I looked up the bike components, I realized that I had a different seat, and also different wheels from the original. I tried to reach customer service but it was in vain.

If you are in GTA area check out Northern cycles in Ajax. I will be buying future Trek bikes.

        Comments:

I bought this bike about 3 months ago from a shop in Boston that specializes in Trek bikes. First day out chain falls off after only 20 min of riding on the road. Then the next time out i literally went off a curb since then the gears are skipping. After getting it fixed i decided to go into the woods for a bike ride. Now since its considered a "Mountain Bike" i didn't think it was that big of a deal until i got out of the woods than realized that the back wheel was bent. So in shame i squeaked all the way back home. Long story Short... if you wanna get into Bike Riding and you wanna get a Trek your better off spending a minimum of $1,500.00 otherwise your gonna buy a bike that looks cool with a bunch of problems.

I don't use this for mountain biking yet, getting use to riding a bike. I ride 3.7 miles daily on the i205 multipath. bike handles well, it's my second Trek. My old one was an old Police Trek mountain bike.
