        Comments:

Bought two 700s for me and my son. Both ride terrific on the mixed road surfaces around our area. Really good on packed gravel and rough roads. My only complaint is that there is a large difference between first and second gears, relative to the other gears. It makes me want a new gear between first and second, say, a 1.5 gear. Only other minor quibble is that I'm not sure I want to ride this "comfort" seat much longer. While nice at first it seems a bit large on longer rides. On the plus side, the steel frame feels nice and not too heavy. Seven gears seems about right for the level of riding I do, mostly on casual bike trails with my kids.

          Comments:

I ride 4+ miles/day 5-6 days a week on this through a busy city with a variety of road conditions (smooth pavement, gravel, cobble stone and potholes galore.) The Trek 700 handles all of them perfectly. Light enough that I can lift it onto a rack myself (I'm 5'4" and 120 lbs, not a lot of upper body strength to boast about.) This is my first bike that I use daily and I couldn't be more happy with it. The 20" frame is very comfortable. I added a rear rack and basket and the installation was a breeze. Bike comes with a lot of pre-drilled holes for customization. Recently added a cup holder and bike pump to the frame as well. Very handy and again, Trek makes it easy to customize what you add to the frame. I would highly recommend this bike to a new bike commuter or someone who has been riding for years. I always feel safe riding my Trek through the city. The brake system is very reliable and I have had no issues with it after 6 months of constant use. The bike is very stable. Great for those of us with balance issues!

            Comments:

Bontrager saddle is wonderfully comfortable. The only downside may be on my front wheel's quick release. The chrome started rusting almost immediately and I really don't feel like it's due to lack of care. I also don't necessarily think it's an indicator of poor workmanship (I'm hoping it's just a fluke because I really like the bike and recommend it to everyone). I bought this bike as a reasonably inexpensive foray into bicycling for exercise and it was such a wonderful experience I may have gotten totally hooked. I've been itching to hitting the streets again this summer.

                Comments:

Had bike for one hour, rides great. Perfect for family rides. Really enjoy the upright position while riding. Im 6'1 and purchased the 20" frame and seems to be right size for me. Happy with my selection, did shop around for other bikes, cheaper ones and more pricey. Would recommend . Did not give 5 stars because I was unable to ride other bikes for any amount of time, so really cant give a formidable and accurate rating. Again it seems perfect for my use.
