2012 Trek 1.5 Compact

Rocketing down serpentine descents, flattening hilly centuries, and scorching the blacktop: Trek's 1.5 Compact does all that and more. Its Alpha aluminum frame and carbon fork are light, stiff and velvety smooth for all-day comfort. The Bontrager wheels slice through the air and effortlessly accelerate out of turns. Plus, the compact Shimano drivetrain means you'll have the gears to get up the steepest hills without the weight of a triple set up and dual-pivot brakes ensure safety and confidence on the way back down.

      Comments:

After a exhausting amount of research and looking at several bikes. I found the 1.5. Not only does the look of this beauty draw you in ( I got the black) But the geometry looks great. I got a free custom fit from the LBS plus lifetime adjustments. By Local! if you can. After a few rides of increasing distance. I find myself never wanting to stop. No longer do have pain in the neck shoulders or back. This bike just feels great and is a blast to ride. I have increased to a new speed I didn't know I had. Get this Bike you wont be disappointed.

1.5 is the perfect entry level bike. The amount of exercise I am getting tripled just because I bought this bike. Better than any membership I could buy. Every time I look at it I want to go for a ride.

          Comments:

I purchased this 1.5 to begin training for--and competing--in distance bike races and triathlons. I am in love with the speed and comfort this machine provides. I really enjoy how smoothly the bike shifts gears, and I can't believe how light the bike is. This bike is a tremendous value, and I look forward to years of enjoyment riding my Trek 1.5!

              Comments:

Being new to road biking i wanted a bike that was affordable and one that i would not need to upgrade right away. I was looking at the 1.1 and the 1.2 at first. The 1.1 is a great bike but i was put off by the aluminum fork on it so that left the 1.2. after comparing the price of the 1.2 with the price of the 1.5 i decided to spend the little extra and gain a lot of bike. Shifting is really smooth and hills are no trouble with the compact crank. If you are looking for a quality bike with great components get the 1.5 you won't be disappointed

I've had this bike for a year and have put +2000km on it and still like it as much as I did the day I got it. It's light, rigid, has a perfect geometry and is very reasonably priced. Awesome bike!

                Comments:

This bike is a fantastic ride. It's very fast, and the carbon fork makes a big difference in light road chatter for someone who's used to steel. The bike is wonderfully efficient - it just coasts and coasts and coast if you let it, holds energy very well. My only major complaint is that, as someone used to analog shifters, any delay in shifting is very noticeable. Possibly this is just something out of alignment, but the bike seems to have trouble shifting between higher cogs. Also, the carbon fork is murder on my wrists, but it's so light that I don't care. For those not in the know, carbon is smooth on small bumps, but much harsher on big ones. Need thicker gloves.

This bike has been great. I have had issues with the chain coming off when changing gears, but nothing too major. Overall- love the bike!! Even more so due to the price tag.
